Family guy, American Dad and Cleveland Show are all animated sit-coms produced by Seth McFarlane which appear on mainstream broadcasting media platforms ranging from television channels like: BBC 3 and E4 to interactive media platforms on the internet like BBC iPlayer, Adult Swim and more.
Why I like them has many reasons emotionally as well as mentally and physically. Firstly, I love the fact the shows manage to bring my sense of humor which may tend to get put to the back of my head due to day-to-day life and responsibilities. This makes me happier in general even after the show has finished; in some cases the humor affect can last me days, even weeks.
Secondly, I like the shows because of it's concept, characters and style. I like the way the crew has designed the characters to reflect each other, thus displaying how these characters will affect each other's lifestyles in everyday living. Also, I like the different scenarios that the characters all find themselves in. I like them because it's unrealistic, making it funny and viewable from a safe distance without me getting arrested or finding myself in other forms of trouble by copying what I see because I would have already seen it's outcome; good or bad. For example when Peter Griffin (Family Guy) has endless, dramatic and fatal war-like fight scenes with a walking, talking chicken.
Lastly I enjoy the show's forms and theme tunes. I like the catchy jingles and the way the characters commonly say the opposite of their behaviour almost as if they are contrasting their characters with a clean, catchy and understanding theme tunes. I also like the idea of animating the common sit-com making it funnier to watch through it's unrealistic and almost impossible capabilities and wider range of colour, scenes and wardrobe.
I feel the shows affect me in some ways. I believe they make my day-to-day life almost easier to live because my sense of humor feels as if it's range is expanded as to what I may find funny, This means I smile and laugh more often over things which I would have not found amusing otherwise. Also it affects me and my peers giving us more jokes and stories to share, making us feel better generally.
The show overall makes me feel happier, more relaxed and brings out my sense of humor making me more likeable around my friends, family and new acquaintances.
I think the idea of these shows are clever, comedy encouraging and the makings of a good show. However, it isn't something I would encourage a younger sibling for example to watch due to it's sometimes graphic nature, use of language and sexual references. Also the jokes tend to stretch out of affect or "drag on". There are many times where I've been watching these shows and enjoying a joke until I realize how long it's been on the same joke wondering when it will move on. When these jokes finish me and my company will always feel disappointed at the little humorous affect it had on us on the occasion.
