Explain what a location release form is and why is it needed for filming?
Location release is a binding contract between the photographer and the owner of a private property whereby the owner of the property grants written permission to shoot a movie, video, commercial (etc.) of the owner's property. This agreement includes provisions regarding foregoing the owner's right to sue for specific types of claims, allowing producers and team to enter property, releasing any rights to recording of one's property, and potential compensation for use.
It's needed for organization and permission reasons, making it official on the intentions and permission (granting).
What is a contributor release form and why is it required?
A contributor license agreement defines the terms under which intellectual property has been contributed to a company/project, typically software under an open source license.
Contributor License Agreement (CLAs) can be used to enable vendors to easily pursue legal resolution in the case of copyright disputes, or to relicense products from which contributors have been received from third parties. The purpose of a CLA is to ensure that the guardian of a project's output has the necessary ownership or grants of rights over all contributions to allow them to distribute under the chosen license In some cases this will mean that the contributor will assign the copyright in all contributions to the projects owner; in other cases, they will grant on an irrevocable license to allow the project maintainer to use the contributions. CLAs also have roles in raising awareness of IPR issues within the project.
